Arthur Beetson - 22/1/1945 to 1/12/2011

Arthur Beetson lived and breathed the game of Rugby League for almost all of his life.

As a youngster in Roma, like many country kids, spent the winter months either listening to the "league" on the radio or heading out to the local Sunday games enjoying the occassion that only a game of "league" in the country can manage.

The Arthur Beetson Foundation though grounded in the Rugby League community through it's associations with events such as the "Indigenous All Stars" games and the annual "Queensland Murri Carnival", has also set out to achieve results for the wider aboriginal community.

The foundation has already secured commitments from leading schools to offer scholarships at some of the Brisbane's most prestigious schools, which will go a long way to helping young Aboriginal kids acheive their dreams academically, and with the help of the already established Murri Carnival organisers they are looking create a must attend Indigenous Rugby League carnival to help showcase talented indigenous players from city and the bush.

The Arthur Beetson Foundation is making a difference to young indigenous childrens lives. Read what Jackson Wier had to say about how his life has changed through his scholarship.
